AVATAR is spoken about everywhere. It is nominated 9 times for the Oscar 2010 and is very likely to get a few awards. Avatar is a 2009 US science fiction epic film scripted and directed by versatile film director James Cameron. Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez and Stephen Lang play the leading parts. The term Avatar has its roots Hindu mythology. It is "god's visit to Earth to fix sth that is broken". Vishnu, one of the 3 gods who shield creation, visits Earth frequently. According to Hindu mythology, Vishnu is dark-blue in color. Cameron has also decided to paint the aliens blue. Set in the future on an alien planet called Pandora placed the Alpha Centauri star system, Avatar film tells the timeless story of gluttony, immaturity and the ferocity that results from ignorance. The plot revolves around a soldier - Jack - who flies to Pandora the moon located in the Alpha Centauri star system to help The Corporation intending to mine and export unobtainium - a precious mineral. The Na'vi are the alien arboreal humonoid civilisation thriving on the planet. They are a part of a vast symbiotic living system including plants and animals which are connected by an intricate biological interaction network. The Corporation plans to mine the moon and the Na'vi fight against the intruders for their homeland. The growth and expansion of the mining colony menaces the continued existence of the local tribe. Jack is taken in by the Na'vi and explores their labguage, culture and habitat. He falls in love with a female Na'vi who rescues him when he is lost in the forest. Avatars are biological creations made from human and alien DNA. They are controlled by a human from whose DNA they were made. The soldier takes control of an avatar that is made from his brother's DNA. Avatar is an idealistic movie showing an ideal world. The ending is particularly touching. The visual effects are spectacular. The alien world Cameron and his team show to the viewer is one of the most carefully thought-out and consistent. The movie is really worth watching. |
