But gemstones under 2 carats has an amazingly vivid color. One more special feature of chrome diopside as compared to emerald and tsavorite is its softness. It usually has 5 to 6 at Mohs scale. But you should remember that Mohs hardness scale doesn't measure resistance to fracture and tensile strength. It only means that chrome diopside is sometimes soft to scratch. So remember that jewelry with chrome diopside has to be kept carefully in order to avoid being scratched by other stones. That is why chrome diopside gems are not applicable for rings. But at the same time they are perfect for earrings and pendants and look fantastic in gold.
