Starting from the 2003 addition, the brand name was altered to underline Word's identity as a constituent within the Office Suite. The company renamed Microsoft Word into Microsoft Office Word. Microsoft Word allows users to type, format and modify text to create documents that can be printed or viewed electronically. The Word Format is a reasonably priced word processing program. The application offers a great number of tools and features, and a great many users are familiar and frequently use Microsoft toolbars. The Word file format provides tools to format fonts, add clipart, add page numbers, and create headers and tables. Word's formats are denoted either by a. doc or. docx file extension. The newer ".docx" extension stands for the Office Open XML international standard for Office documents and is deployed by Word 2007 for Windows, Word 2008 for the Macintosh. |
