Fashion is an art that reflects life. Now and again we hear the names of Valentino, Paco Rabanne, Givenchy, Giorgio Armani etc. There designers influence our hair styles, how we dress up, the way we put on makeup and even our habits. Every season fashion gurus determine our choices of clothing. A fashion calendar includes several very important events which are called fashion weeks. Fashion weeks are organized every season for designers to exhibit their latest collections in runway shows and for buyers to have a look at the latest trends. The most crucial thing is that they exhibit the industry what is in and what is out for the season. The most prominent fashion weeks are arranged in the fashion capitals, including Milan, London, New York and Paris where luxury clothes (also known as haute couture) are displayed. Haute Couture is a French word combination for expensive and fashionable clothes. Couture denotes dressmaking, sewing, or needlework, whereas haute means elegant. Haute couture garments are made for a particular client from high-quality, expensive fabrics and sewed by hand usually using time-consuming techniques. Thus, couture garments are luxurious and chic. Dependent on the haute couturier and the garment, the cost of a couture item ranges from $10, 000 for a blouse to $40, 000 and often beyond that figure. The cost includes payments for the service, work, exclusivity and superb materials of the finest quality. Moreover, every client will get a garment to fit them perfectly. It takes around 100-150 hours to make a handmade suit and up to 1000 hours for an evening dress adorned with thousands of beads sewn by hand. A fashion house like Chanel, for instance, will have approximately 150 regular clients buying couture garments, and a couture house like Dior will make around 20 luxury wedding gowns every year. Apart from clothes, well-renowned couture houses make luxury accessories, including hats, buttons, belts, gems, shoes, handbags. Those who can afford couture clothes are glad to pay for exclusivity and the privacy guaranteed by the system.
