Sexual well-being and virility determine the quality of life. As males age, ED is becoming increasingly more important. Because this topic is widely discussed in mass media, males irrespective of age are looking for aid and assistance to better their relationships and experience a satisfying sex life. About 30 mln of men in the USA are estimated to have erectile dysfunction. There are only 3 oral therapies approved by the U.S. FDA to treat erectile dysfunction: Cialis, Levitra, and Viagra. The drugs relax the walls of the penis allowing more blood to flow to the organ, so that when a male is sexually stimulated, he can have an erection. There are minor differences in how long and how rapidly the drug works. Levitra works a bit longer than Viagra. They both take effect in around thirty minutes. Viagra works effectively for around 4 hours, whereas Levitra for 5 hours. Cialis works a little quicker (in approximately 15 minutes after administration), and the effects last far longer - up to 36 hours in some cases. Though each medicine has proved highly potent, none is cure-all. Drug-to-drug interactions with nitrates or nitroglycerin cardiac medicines can cause a serious drop in blood pressure, which can be fatal. More general side effects, such as splitting headaches, giddiness, dyspepsia, facial flushing and - in case of Viagra - blurred vision can be observed. The drugs are contraindicated in males with heart problems, physical deformities of the penis, in men with a predisposition to elongated erections triggered by sickle cell disease, plasma cell myeloma (a form of cancer), leukaemia, liver and kidney problems, in men taking certain medications for HIV, in those over 65, in men having a recent history of a heart attack, stroke or heart rhythm disorder. Deaths have happened during sexual activity in males taking the medications. Please, consult your GP before taking the drugs. If your physician has prescribed you one of the drugs, stringently observe the recommended dosage. |
